Cascade Creampuff, Oakridge, OR

We headed down to Oakridge, OR this past weekend for the Cascade Creampuff. A weekend that promised those in the saddle a long day: 100 miles and 20,000 feet of climbing (that is not a typo by the way… twenty thousand feet!). The winner took the race in about 10 hours.

I was there as support for a few locals and providing neutral support on the course: Scatman and Drew wrapped the day up in about 15 hours. The pictures don’t at all do justice to how worked Scatman looked either! What a game face! Merce bailed around 87 miles when her knees started bothering her… with 12,000’ of up and 10,000’ of down still pretty dang impressive. Drew gets the award for the herculean effort of the day: bridging a 1 hour gap in the last lap and catching Scatman at the top of the last climb… and as chipper as can be!

We spent the weekend with a lot of cool people, got to hang out in the sun, and had a good time all around… pics below…
